Quake vs. Avalanche Match Report

Mar 17, 2005 - Men's Division III
Avalanche vs. Quake
0-102

The Avalanche kept it close until they ended up down a man due to injury. Then it was all one way traffic.

Both teams though are to be commended for the behavior during the match as the Avalanche never gave up and kept their spirits high, while the Quake just went about their game plan professionally w/o any undue showboating.

Quake Vs Eugene Match Report

Mar 10, 2000 - Men's Division III
Quake vs. Eugene | 7-22
Match Report
Referee: David Pelton

Strong scrum versus open field play and capitalization on mistakes was today's match. The Quake has a scrum that has become increasingly powerful. With the exception of around 10 minutes in the second half they dominated the Eugene scrum; however, their use of that tool was not always used to the most effective results. Eugene had powerful runners that were breaking the gainline, and had a more dynamic attack off of loose play. The results was a match that on the scoreline consistently favored Eugene, but always left the fans wondering who would come out on top.

Eugene's captain and scrumhalf opened the scoring by having the Quake pay for an infraction 12 minutes in with a penalty kick from the about the 22 meter. Ten minutes later the Eugene #8 took a Quake lineout and scored from 22 meters out. Defense took hold by both teams and this took us to half time with a 8-0 Eugene lead.

At the 50 minute mark, the Eugene scrumhalf pressed the lead by picking up a loose ball and diving in for a try which he converted. The Quake pushed and had multiple scrums close to the Eugene tryline and finally got a score when the 8 man picked at the 57th minute. He converted his own score taking us to a 15 - 7 with 23 minutes left.

The Quake threatened often through the power of the scrum and their prowess through most of the lineouts. However, they could not take this set piece play and translate it to points.

The match ended with a Eugene try at the 80th minute when the left winger finished a movement started when the ball was stolen from a Quake player. The scrumhalf converted from the converter and left Eugene up 22-7.
